Moses Basket Covers
Moses basket covers do just what it implies in that you can cover the basket and the hood with pre-made fabric to compliment your nursery color scheme. These are often padded with different designs and can be used as replacement covers if you don't like the cover that come with your basket. They are generally made for specific baskets although they may be elasticated so can stretch a little but best buy a cover that's made by the same company that you got your basket from.
Basket Covers
Apart from blankets and sheets a basket cover add the finishing touch to a cute moses basket. There are
many designs to choose from and some are really over the top with lace and are frilly (which may be your choice but
will you be able to see the baby?).
Choose covers that are easily washable as it's likely that baby will be sick over them at one point so maybe a spare cover set is what's needed when one is in the wash.
Hood Covers
A hood cover normally comes as part of the basket cover set but is basically a fabric cover for the hood
of your moses basket. This is used to disguise the wicker basket effect and may also cut out any
sunlight to make sleeping easier for baby. Again there are many ranges of hood cover but you may
as well get one that matches the basket cover and is likely to be part of the cover set when purchased.
What to Look for When Purchasing Your Covers
Most covers are sold as sets so you'll get a basket and hood cover together. Your basket may also come with a cover but if you have a moses basket given to you or are borrowing from a friend then you may need to purchase a set. By doing this may make the first 4-5 months of the baby's life quite expensive. You don't really need the covers so long as you have sheets and blankets. (Really the covers just make the basket look a little cuter)
